A Nurturing Start to the IB Journey

The Early Childhood program at Granada Preparatory School serves children ages 2 through 5 in Preschool and Junior Kindergarten. Guided by the IB Early Years framework, learning is play-based, inquiry-driven, and designed to nurture the whole child , socially, emotionally, and academically.

Early Childhood FAQ

GPS enrolls children starting at age 2 for Preschool and age 4–5 for Junior Kindergarten. Children must be the appropriate age by September 1st of the enrollment year, submit an inquiry to confirm availability for your child's grade level.
For our youngest Preschool students (age 2), we work with families on the potty training journey. We ask that children entering Junior Kindergarten are fully potty trained, contact our office with any questions about your child's readiness.
Our Early Childhood classrooms maintain small group sizes with dedicated teachers and teaching assistants, ensuring every child receives individualized attention within our overall 7:1 school-wide ratio.
Preschool offers both half-day (8:30am–12:00pm) and full-day (8:30am–2:30pm) options. Extended Day Care is also available from 2:15–6:00pm.
The IB Early Years framework uses play-based inquiry to develop curiosity, social skills, and early academic foundations. Children learn through exploration, not worksheets. Learn more about IB at GPS.
Students naturally transition into our Primary Years Programme (K–5), continuing the IB inquiry framework with the same community and values they already know.
